Opening Weekend!

Out for my first day of the season on Friday the 23rd with MH, Dogg and Big Sexy at KDake, although a couple of members of that team were feeling a little under the weather. Snow conditions were great, solid groomed runs, nice powder stashes off the sides and in the trees. Can`t believe it`s only November! Had a pretty fun time on the new skis too - looking forward to going backcountry on them sometime this season.

Sunday the 25th it was back to KD with MH for blue skies and sun - the wind was pretty cold though. Pulled out the snowboard (UNINC) today, as well as the new snowshoes, for my first climb of the winter. Hiked for one hour ten to the cornice before stopping for the day. The wind was cold and pretty gnarly up high, so going to the top didn`t need to be done. I`m sure I`ll tag that peak many times this season though. Bit weird getting straight into the pow for the first turns of the season, but it all came back pretty quick - nice line down too. Did a couple of runs on the groomers after getting that done, before pulling out the skis for a couple more on them. Nice, although dragging both the skis and the snowboard up and down the gondola was more than a little stressful. Bit of beacon practice in the carpark before the long drive home too. Good weekend all round.
